diverse leadership is A CRUCIAL part of what makes TEDX UVA UNIQUE. WE HAVE CREATED A NETWORK WHERE STUDENTS OF DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS AND DISCIPLINES CAN INFORM, CHALLENGE AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER'S IDEAS. 

Jeanne rockwell

co-curator

Jeanne is a fourth-year student from richmond, va in the college, majoring in media studies with a minor in social entrepreneurship. A three-year member of the tedx family, jeanne served as a co- chair for the outreach committee last year. she found her way into the outreach committee as it combines her interest of marketing with her desire to connect with the greater cville community. she’s remained a member of the club because the people are just that great. this year, jeanne will serve as tedx’s co-curator with her husband, Ronak. together, the two will find a way for uva to keep spreading ideas, despite our challenging times.

abbie weissman

CO-CHAIR OF Graphics

Abbie is a third year architecture student minoring in global sustainability from Alexandria, Virginia. This is her second year with TEDX & the graphics committee and she’s so excited to bring creative new ideas to the group. When not on her computer she loves exploring Charlottesville, learning the ukulele, and wearing cowboy hats with her friends.

Caroline Weis

Caroline Weis has been in Tedx 2 years now! her favorite thing about Tedx is the people: there has never been a more interesting or uniquely passionate group of UVA students. On the Outreach committee, they help to spread the word about our Tedx conferences, manage social media, and curate a news letter.

Shankar Radhakrishnan

Shankar is a third year at UVA. TEDx has been a part of his UVA experience since first year, and each year he has grown to enjoy the club more and more. He’s always been a proponent of spreading ideas and looks forward to more ideas being brought to the spotlight this year. As part of the Sponsorship Committee, he hopes we can host even larger events so as to spread as many ideas as possible.

Ronak rijhwani

ronak rijhwani is a third-year in the school of data science. a three-year teddie, he loves working together with such a unique team every year to build conferences at uva centered around the mission of spreading ideas. ronak's personal favorite ted talk is sam richards's "a radical experiment in empathy." outside of tedx, on grounds, ronak is involved with the mcintire investment institute and the community honor fund. he also enjoys travelling and trying new types of food, but does not recommend eating giant water bugs in thailand.

Keegan Keane

Co-chair of graphics

Keegan is a fourth-year computer science major in the college of arts and sciences from Centreville, Virginia. He joined TedX last year as a gen-bod member of the graphics committee. He’s found TEDx to be an amazing outlet for his passions in photography and videography, not to mention how much he enjoys being around everyone in the club. You can find him constantly playing pick-up sports, fine-tuning his Spotify playlists and laughing too hard at bad jokes.

AK Ramakrishna

AK Ramakrishna is a second year from Buffalo, NY and this is his second year with TEDx. He is extremely fond of #TedTalkTuesdays to get him through the second Monday of his week and future outreach committee members can look forward to lively caption brainstorming sessions.

JAMES FAY

James Fay is a 4th year from Darien, CT. This is his 3rd year with TEDx. As an A-school student, he is one of the creative minds behind each conference, taking the lead on stage design and overall experience. Outside of TEDx, he is an avid golfer; you can also find him working at Corner Juice.

Alice deters        

Co-chair of Speakers

You win some, you lose some. For Alice, third year architecture and PST student, being part of TEDx has been an undeniable win. Now starting her second year on the speakers committee, this time as its co-chair, Alice is ready to mentor students and professionals alike, fine-tune speeches, sit back, and enjoy the show. Personal favorites include crunchy peanut butter, Kentucky, and the shade “ted red.” This year especially, she’s excited to see what the best club on grounds can do.

Zara ali

Zara is a third-year from Boston majoring in Commerce and Global Studies: Security and Justice and minoring in Religious Studies and Entrepreneurship. She’s also Director of Projects and Client Relations for Student Entrepreneurs for Economic Development and an investigator for Honor. Currently serving as co-chair, Zara has been with TEDx’s Speakers committee since her first year. Her favorite aspect of TEDx is being able to challenge the community to synthesize antithetical ideologies by showcasing unique, compelling voices at UVA. Speakers members can look forward to shaping the curation of student and guest speakers and directly sparking critical conversations on Grounds. 

DUNCAN GREEN

Duncan is a rising third year at UVA. Duncan is part of the Tedx Executive Team for the Sponsorship Committee. In his experience, Tedx has an awesome balance between hard work and having fun. Every year Tedx puts on two amazing speaker conferences on grounds. In the coming semesters Sponsorship hopes to expand our reach to the broader Charlottesville area for reliable long term sponsors. As a first year exec member Duncan can’t wait to see where he can take this already amazing club.
