Greg Harrell-Edge is a second-generation nonprofit leader who inherited a passion for building innovative, mission-driven organizations that create impact at scale. He recently founded The Proimpact Project, a content and community hub for Executive Directors to share modern, innovative growth strategies. The idea came from his eight years as Executive Director of CoachArt, an organization that connects kids affected by chronic illness with volunteer arts or athletics coaches.
A University of Virginia graduate, Harrell-Edge was a walk-on member of the 2003 UVA basketball team. Before nonprofit leadership, he worked as a Field Organizer for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. Now, through The Proimpact Project, he is building the peer community he wished he had, helping nonprofit leaders scale their impact.
Wendy Won-Long Shang is an award-winning children’s book author whose work highlights Chinese-American characters and experiences. She is the author of The Great Wall of Lucy Wu, winner of the Asian Pacific-American Librarian Association award, The Secret Battle of Evan Pao, an ALA Notable Book, and The Rice in the Pot Goes Round and Round, a Reach Out and Read selection. She also wrote the 2022 American Girl books featuring Corinne, the first Chinese-American Girl of the Year, and has collaborated with Netflix and Disney films.
A double Hoo, Shang earned degrees from UVA’s College of Arts and Sciences (1990) and School of Law (1994). Now, as a leader in children’s literature, she is shaping how diverse stories are told and shared.
Maxine Clifford is an entrepreneur and business owner specializing in boutique fitness franchising. While completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia, she joined @purvelocville where she discovered a passion for brand development and community-driven fitness. In 2019, she graduated from UVA and launched her career by opening pūrvelo’s Athens, GA location and has since played a key role in the brand’s expansion. Maxine’s leadership has fostered a vibrant and welcoming fitness community, making pūrvelo a favorite among UVA students and Charlottesville locals alike.
Now, the owner of pūrvelo’s flagship studio and headquarters in Charlottesville, VA, Maxine oversees 60+ employees, manages the studio operations in Charlottesville and Athens, facilitates and maintains all business relationships and partnerships, and teaches classes at the Charlottesville location. As a young female business owner, she has adapted a unique mindset to navigate challenges, turning obstacles into opportunities for growth, innovation, and long-term fulfillment.
Dr. Erin Nance is the Founder and CEO of FeelBetr, a social media network where health experts break down intricate medical topics, making health literacy accessible to a wide audience. A board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, she specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery, bringing advanced expertise to both specialized and general orthopedic care.
A former Jefferson Scholar and John K. Crispell Memorial Lawn Room resident, she began her journey at the University of Virginia before completing medical training at Brown Medical School, Lenox Hill Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Boston Children’s Hospital, Baltimore Shock Trauma, and the Hospital for Special Surgery.
Known as the medical storyteller, she blends medical education with patient experience stories on her TikTok channel, @littlemissdiagnosed, which has been viewed over 150 million times. She is the co-host of The Medical Detectives podcast (Spotify Top100) and the author of her debut book, Little Miss Diagnosed (HarperCollins, June 2025).
Colonel Dan Moy lectures on terrorism, counterterrorism, and national security policy at UVA’s Batten School,
A 27-year U.S. Air Force veteran, Colonel Moy led a counterinsurgency team in Afghanistan, advised the U.S. Ambassador to the UN, and held key roles at the Pentagon overseeing intelligence and reconnaissance programs. His leadership has earned him the Legion of Merit, the Defense Superior Service Medal, and the Bronze Star.
Beyond his military service, Colonel Moy is also a scholar, with a forthcoming book on the ideological origins of the American founding.
Bram Weinstein is the play-by-play voice of the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL) and the Washington Spirit. A seasoned sportscaster on air for three decades now, Bram has worked at every level of broadcasting, including a seven-year stint at ESPN, where he became a familiar face as a @sportscenter host. Before joining ESPN in 2008, Weinstein was a sports radio personality in Washington, D.C., where he covered the Commanders and continues to host “The Bram Weinstein Show.”
Now, as the owner of the @ampiremedia and the host of ESPN’s daily show The Sports Capitol, Weinstein continues to shape the sports media landscape. His work resonates with many UVA students who have long followed the Commanders and the broader D.C. sports scene.
Geoffrey “Geoff” Blythe is a Senior Managing Director at Guggenheim Securities, where he founded and leads its Industrial practice, which has grown to over 75 bankers and closely collaborates across other industry coverage groups, given the accelerating convergence between industrials, technology, healthcare, power, and other sectors.
A University of Virginia graduate, Blythe earned his B.S. in Commerce “with Distinction” before starting his career in corporate banking at NCNB Bank, which later became Bank of America. He went on to earn his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1995 and began his investment banking career at Merrill Lynch, covering Industrial and Industrial Tech companies. During the 2008 financial crisis, he joined Rothschild as Global Co-Head of Industrials, leading major domestic and cross-border Mergers and Acquisitions transactions before moving to Guggenheim Securities in 2015 to build and scale its Industrials practice.
Committed to fostering the next generation of finance professionals, Blythe mentors young bankers, leads UVA recruiting at Guggenheim, and lectures annually at the McIntire School of Commerce on corporate strategy and Mergers and Acquisitions, shaping the future of the industry through education and leadership.
